HOPEDALE
GRAND SLAM! 4/21/06
Russ Andreacchio, from Meridian, Mike Smith from
Atlanta, and Robert Mercer from Birmingham teamed up to pull off
an INSHORE GRAND SLAM on day with less than ideal conditions. Russ
had been chomping at the bit for weeks waiting to get into some SPECKS
and REDS. We shoved of at first light and were met in Lake Robin
with rough water too windy for the outside so into the marsh we went.
First few stops no luck then Mike hooks up and the drag is running
and boats a nice drum. Then Robert CATFISH Mercer hooks up with a
GAFTOP, from what Russ said he can catch a catfish in a bucket. Well
a few casts later Russ puts the first trout on ice then Mike and
Robert falling in line catching trout. We hit several more spots
around the 4 Horse areas catching a few here and there before getting
on a slow steady bite of nice trout in the Pipeline. We stayed there
catching both reds and trout titelining Deadly Dudley’s in
salt and pepper with green tails. Last stop the trout were on fire
but it was short lived so we called it a day. WINDY, DIRTY WATER
,LOW TIDE but we hung in there and put together a nice box full of
fish. The guys did a great job with turning subtle bites into fish
in the box. We had a blast together and made it in just before the
bad weather.
